What is Magnafolate®? Folate VS Folic Acid, What's the Difference?

5-MTHF is an active, naturally occurring form of folate. It’s an essential B vitamin that supports metabolism. Many people don’t get sufficient 5-MTHF because they have intestinal or liver dysfunction or because of their genetic deficiency which makes it difficult to convert folic acid into active 5-MTHF. A deficiency of folic acid has been linked to low-birth-weight infants and neural tube defects, which is reason that Centers for Disease Control recommends folate supplement for all women of childbearing age.

Calcium L-5-MTHF is a synthetic derivative of folic acid, the predominant, naturally occurring form of folate.

Magnafolate® is a patent trademark of C-crystal form of calcium salt L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (CAS No. 151533-22-1) by Jinkang Pharma, produced under US Patent No. 9,150,982
